Overview
RivetTrace keeps the engineering record behind a product: what was designed, what was actually built, what was measured, what went wrong, and what was decided about it. It is built for work done with your hands — instruments, boards, enclosures, prototypes — where the history matters as much as the current state.
History is append-only by design. Superseding a decision records a new one rather than rewriting the old; releasing a revision freezes the requirements it was built against. Nothing is quietly overwritten.

A design is the thing; a revision is a version of it. Releasing a revision freezes what it was built from.
Builds captured as they happen
Photos, notes and readings recorded at the bench, attached to the step that produced them.
Issues, changes and decisions
An issue records what is wrong, a change proposes what should be different, a decision records what was chosen and why — each traceable to the others.
Verification as evidence
Test runs are recorded as evidence. Whether a requirement is met stays a separate, human conclusion.

Everything stays on the device. RivetTrace makes no network connections and has no account.
